Things you ought to know:
- RESPECT-
This is our #1 Rule! If students are being disrespectful in the classroom parents/guardians will be notified and grades will be directly affected. The classroom is our workspace and all should feel comfortable there. - RISK-
Students are encouraged to stretch outside of their basic comfort zone by taking chances and striving towards new goals. - ReDedicate to Learning-
Learning Never ends! Our goal at Frontier is to learn at high levels, and in theater there are many ways to go about learning new things in exciting ways. Students will be expected to push themselves to new heights and aim for Advance Mastery in all concepts.
Grading Process
Students grades will be based off of their Mastery Level of various curriculum requirements. Students will be graded using the Mastery Connect System and then their grades will be translated into Skyward. This method is to promote student learning (actually understanding and applying information given) and helps students more clearly judge their placement level in various areas of study.
The “Assignments” in Skyward are not “Assignments”, they are Areas of Mastery. They all have a due date for the end of term because students are able to prove their Mastery Levels up until that point. The various mastery checks we do throughout the term (Performances, Presentations, Quizzes, Self Assessments) are not separate assignments in Skyward. I do, however, always give the students due dates in class on when various performances and assignments are due, and it is their responsibility to take note of them and document those dates in whatever format works for them. If students are present and paying attention there are no surprises in this class. (There is also a class calendar that dictates what will be covered each day found at www.fmstheater.weebly.com.)
If a category on Skyward is marked as “missing” it means that an assessment from the student was not completed and they need to turn it in as soon as possible. They will not be penalized.

UnHomework
Students are children who need time away from school to be kids. However, there is something to be said for reviewing material at home to further embed information into the brain. The homework for this class will be called "UnHomework" and is completely optional. Each unit will have an "UnHomework Options" sheet corresponding with it and students can choose to complete the tasks given or not. If students complete the options and turn in the sheet with their own signature indication that they have completed the process listed, they will be given credit in the “Dedication to Learning” assignment category on Skyward. In order for students to receive ADVANCED MASTERY in this area they must complete most of the UnHW assignments (usually ⅔). If the student also has a parent/guardian signature indicating that they have completed the tasks they will be given a ticket. This ticket will enter the student into a drawing for MidTerm rewards.
